  • Bass Fishing – The THREE South Valley Connections
When you think about Visalia, the first thing that comes to mind most likely isn’t bass fishing. Go ahead, try thinking about Visalia...think hard now. See what I mean? You probably came up with agriculture, our great downtown area or even, the Gateway to the Sequoias.

  • Sportsman’s Warehouse, New in Town…
When you go into Sportman’s Warehouse you’ll find fishing stuff galore. I mean real fishing stuff, from accessories for bass boats, float tubes, rubber worms, bass plugs, jig heads, paint for jigs, to bass fishing books and videos. Trout flies? By the bin, saltwater gear? By the row. Rubber worms of every color, size and brand. I heard one bass fisherman exclaim, “It’s like dying and going to heaven.” Hmmm, that may have been me.

  • THE NEXT BIG THING -YOU BE THE JUDGE
Wouldn’t you know it, just when drop shotting became productive for me; a new bass lure comes on the scene. It’s called LASER LURE and its high tech all the way.

  • Lake Kaweah Fishing in September/October
Ahh...September and the Lake Kaweah bass are schoolin'. You can spot these schools by looking for tell-tale signs. The action of the storks, seagulls, and an occasional pelican on top of the water usually means the bass are pushing shad up from the bottom. With shad in the middle, it's like a Kaweah Lake rodeo.

  • Obsession: Fishing For Bass with the Visalia Bass Club
The only thing that can dampen the “fishing for bass obsession” is the Central Valley heat. If you’re new to this area, August and into September are son-of-gun months because it’s so darn hot. This has already caused the Visalia Bass Fishing Club to turn to plan “B,” holding its bass tournaments in the relative coolness of the night.
