Atlanta-born guitar virtuoso Kaki King is known worldwide for her percussive and jazz-tinged melodies, energetic live shows, unique finger-style playing, and use of multiple tunings on both acoustic and lap steel guitar. By seamlessly merging a diverse range of different genres, she’s created her own language for the guitar.
Kings’ accomplishments are vast:
*King was named by Rolling Stone as one of the “20 Guitar Gods”. She was the only female guitarist to make the list.
*King went on to record a duet with Dave Grohl on his Grammy-winning Foo Fighter’s record.
*Ovation guitars launched a Kaki King signature model guitar in 2009.
*She recieved a Golden Globe Nomination with Eddie Vedder for original score for Sean
Penn’s “Into The Wild”
* She recorded for WB’s “August Rush” – Soundtrack nominated for Best Soundtrack Grammy
As if Kaki King performing in Visalia wasn’t reason enough for excitement, newly discovered internet sensation Zoë Keating will be opening the show. The Candian is a modern cello master, creating rhythmically dense musical structures by “looping” layers of her cello live. Keating uses modern gear that allows her to perform fascinating multiple cello parts simotaneously. At times she builds cello arrangements featuring sixteen cello parts! Zoë’s self-produced album One Cello x 16: Natoma has four times made it to #1 on the iTunes classical charts.
The unique and creative approach that these women take to their instruments continues to blow minds on a nightly basis. Don’t miss your fortunate opportunity to be inspired!
much love,
Aaron
