Fall Forward ~
It’s so hard to get back into the swing of things after a long vacation, and summer months.  Do we justify setting the “To Do”  list aside in favor of summer fun?  Are we more serious about getting back to business, and schedules in the fall?  I’m not sure, all I know is, I’m looking forward to the possibilities, and I’m excited about the arrival of the fall season ahead!
During the summer months, I prefer everything cleared off, fresh and clean.  The less clutter the better, but in the fall I tend to feather my nest in anticipation of sharing time with family and friends.  Depending on your tastes, that could mean, pulling out the vintage collections, or the trunk from storage.  You may want to add some textural pillows, or trade out the sisal for a snuggly shag. It could also mean the simplicity of adding a punch of color with a vibrant art glass vase, and a cutting of branches from the yard.  Showing off the beautiful fall foliage could be your choice, or skin the branches clean for an organic, but dramatic look.

Fall is a great time to Re-Design, Restyle, or simply change things up a bit.  When planning any space, it’s really important to think about how you live every day.  Make it work for you, and in the process you’re sure to achieve something unique.
What is a project you could fall into this weekend?
There is no doubt, you will be spending a lot of time in the kitchen in the next few months, and holiday guests will be gathering around to sneak a treat or two, so you may want to give those kitchen cabinets a new look.  Simply removing a few cabinet doors to create open shelving, could be the answer.  This can add a fun contemporary twist, and some added convenience.  Fill the holes, give the face a new coat of paint, and by adding an accent color to the inside of the open shelves you have created your own unique look. Your space will open up visually, and be easy access for your holiday guests.  Now that you have changed the overall mood, don’t forget the sparkling new hardware. Remember unexpected accessories in any room can add interest, and playfulness.  Put the toaster and mixer away, and look to your bookshelves for inspiration. Bringing in a pair of bookends, or a decorative box will add a new flair, and unique companions for your cookbook collection.  A fun lamp could add the lighting that is always an important element in any kitchen and could create a little mood lighting to help you chop those veggies in no time.
I really look forward to this time of year, and I hope you let yourself fall forward into the season, by creating your own nest for your family and the home you share.
