Congratulations To Jake Corners!
Hey Bartender!
by DD Macedo
Congratulations to Jake Corners from Firkin & Hound in Visalia!
Jake is what one could call a “natural” when it comes to bartending. He started in the trade 7 years ago while he was attending school in Reno. He said it was his “hobby” and then because he loved it so much turned it into his career! Jake says, “I’m blessed to have a job where I get paid to socialize! It’s a joy to hang around a bunch of really cool people”. He has bartended in two states and in another country! He and his brother took a backpacking trip to Nicaragua and to earn a little extra cash on the trip, bartended along the way. They were able to visit Panama, Honduras and Costa Rica as well. Jake says the trip was eye opening as to how fortunate we are here to have so much.
He was excited when he got the call that he was Bartender of the Month, but not as much as his niece, Ryllee was! She was at his side at his brothers when he received the message from Trends. By the sparkle in his eye when he talks about Ryllee, Jake is a very proud Uncle!
Jake has a couple of drinks he is known for. The first one is a drop shot – he calls it a “Gladiator”. To make it, start with Mandarin Vodka, mixed with Peach Schnapps and then add a float of 151, all in a shot. He then drops that into an energy drink (Rock Star) and Orange Juice. Whoa!
The other is called a “Sweet and Easy”. To make it, mix Blueberry Vodka, Lemonade and Cranberry Juice and pour it on the rocks…. Since the Gladiator would have kept me awake for the next couple of days, I tried the Sweet and Easy and it definitely was…. SWEEEET, EASY & Delicious!
Thanks for sharing Jake!
