Hey Bartender!

This month Valley Trends readers have selected Jay Amaro from Isla Tequila Bar and Grill our Bartender of the Month!
Jay has been bartending at Isla’s about a year now. Prior to that, she was working at Firkin and Hound.  Jay is attending college at COS and is an Art and Business major, her first love being Art!  She paints and draws and has sold several of her paintings.
She says her bartender learning experience comes from when she worked at Tahoe Joe’s.  Not knowing anything about it they threw her under the bus and since all their cocktails are specialty drinks she had to look up recipes and make the drink one ingredient at a time. This is not a quick process and she says the servers were not very happy with her!
But since then she has come to love making up recipes and mixing new delicious drinks.  Jay says she even dreams about work. One of her recent “dreams” she says hit her in the middle of the night.  She quickly wrote down the recipe so she wouldn’t forget it.  She calls it a Chocolate Strawberry and one taste will tell you why!  It is made with chocolate vodka, strawberry puree and a (secret) splash of this and that! She says she likes to keep her recipes a secret so you have to come by and get your favorites from her!
