Your Secret for Success in 2009!

» by darrell klassen

- A new year and a new chance for success…success that applies to your golf game as well. With winter coming to an end, I look forward to spring time, so I can once again begin to hit a few balls on the driving range, start putting a few, and getting down to brass tacks with my short game.

What goals have you set for 2009 with respect to your golf game? What are the commitments you have made in order to do your level best to achieve those goals? Are your new goals realistic? Have you made a plan to help you improve your game? Will your play work for you? You know it is of no use whatsoever to make a plan which will not help you get to your new level. I would suggest you take the time to write your plan down on paper and then pull up a chair in your recliner. The next thing I want you to do is to really think about the things you have written on that paper.

If working on your short game is not one or all of the first two things on your list, you are in trouble. I am going to share a few facts with you. On many occasions I have taken golfers out onto the course for a few holes of a playing lesson. After they hit their tee shot into the trees or weed, and after they have hit their second shot even deeper into the rough and junk, I will trade balls with them. That’s correct. I will play from their second shot on a par-4 hole, and they will play from my position. I have usually done my best to leave them a shot from right in the middle of the fairway and anywhere from thirty to fifty yards from the green.

I offer to play them from this position and into the cup for $20 or so. In all of the years I have done this, I very rarely have lost any money. It’s like taking candy from a baby most of the time, and it is nothing more than the fact that I have always had a very good short game.

It is the short game which will take you down two to five strokes on your handicap this year. You probably think it will happen if you can hit more fairways and greens, but that is simply not the fact. Statistics have proven what I am telling you right now, so you should really pay attention to what I am saying.

Because I strongly believe in perfecting your short game for success, I am going to make you an offer. At the time TRENDS releases its next issue we will hold a drawing for a FREE one-hour lesson on the short game. In fact, I will give TWO FREE LESSONS. That means TWO of you will win ONE FREE lesson each, which equates to a $300 value. The Lesson expires on March 31, 2009. If you have not taken it by then, you lose out on the deal.
